Terms of service

The rules for using the Decision API and the dashboard, in plain language.

This document is a draft pending review by counsel. It describes how the platform works today and is published for transparency. It is not yet a final legal agreement.

Last updated July 19, 2026

The service

Payinference returns payment decision instructions. You call the Decision API with payment context and receive one instruction, then execute it through your own payment providers and report the outcome back. Payinference is not a payment service provider, gateway, orchestrator or money transmitter. It never initiates charges and never holds funds.

Accounts and API keys

You are responsible for the credentials issued to your workspace. Keep API keys secret, rotate a key if you believe it is exposed, and treat activity performed with your keys as activity of your workspace.

Acceptable use

Do not send card numbers, CVV codes or cardholder identity in any request. The schemas reject these fields, and attempting to send them anyway is a breach of these terms. Do not use the service for unlawful payments, and do not probe, overload or disrupt the platform.

Your responsibility for payments

Instructions are inputs to your payment stack. You decide whether and how to execute them, and you remain responsible for your payment processing, your provider relationships and your compliance with card network rules and applicable law.

Pricing and billing

Usage is metered per decision at the rates published on the pricing page. Volume discounts apply to decision count and never to transaction value, because Payinference never touches the money.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the service available and fast, and we may change or improve it over time. This draft does not promise a specific uptime level. Committed availability terms belong in an enterprise agreement.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Payinference is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and its total liability is capped at the fees you paid for the service in the preceding twelve months. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Termination

You can stop using the service and close your workspace at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as liability and payment obligations, survive termination.
